5 Healthy Treats To Try This Weekend

One of my favourite things about the weekend is that everything is a little slower, and I always find some time to try out a few new recipes and spend some time in the kitchen. I love cooking and baking, and i’m always on the hunt for healthier alternatives and feel good treats. There are a few things I always make – pancakes, granola, snacks for our toddler…but i’ve got into the habit of making the same reliable recipes which can get a bit stale. There are some really delicious recipes i’ve got my eye on, here are 5 I’m looking forward to testing out this weekend!

Cacao Chia Buckwheat Granola

After seeing Indy from The Little Green Spoon prepare this recipe on Neven Maguires Healthy Home Chef and hearing Katie talk about how good it is too, I will definitely be giving it a try. Crunchy chocolately granola sounds like a ‘too good to be true’ breakfast option, snack or Nobó topping!

Chocolate & Chia Raspberry Parfait

I have followed Green Kitchen Stories blog for years and their recipes always deliver! This looks like such a simple and gorgeous sweet snack, dessert or breakfast. Anything that includes avocado in a sweet treat is a definite winner in our books!

Matcha Banana Pancakes

I love following this Instagram account for all the gorgeous colourful photos of smoothie bowls and salads, they are so vibrant and more like art than food! I’m always testing out new pancake recipes and love the idea of adding a little superfood boost with some spinach and matcha.

Healthy Peanut Butter Cookies

After trying some of The NutShed’s yummy whole food vegan treats at Sprout & Co on Dawson Street I’m a big fan! They often post healthy recipes on their Instagram and these 4-ingredient sugar free cookies caught my eye last week. They look nice and easy to make and seem like they may be a great cookie for a Nobó cookie sandwich – Frozen Goodness + Peanut Butter is an absolute dream!

Freezer Bars

These nutty Freezer Bars from Roz Purcell’s Natural Born Feeder look great and her video makes them look very simple to make! I love these type of recipes as you can always customise them and add in your own touches – grated lemon zest, chia seeds or whatever your favourite flavours are like vanilla or cinnamon. Looking forward to trying them out!

Hope you enjoy!
